As we close out our 2025 season and prepare to shut the doors on the Purple People Feeder on November 1st, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. What a year it’s been — full of flavor, festivals, and the kind of community that makes everything worthwhile.
From steam rising through the falling snow at our first boil to costumes and Γ©touffΓ©e under the Halloween moon at our season finale, every event was made special by the people who showed up, cheered us on, and shared a meal with us. We rolled across the San Juans and beyond — popping up at the Bayfield Farmers Market, serving at the Neon Mallard, Lost Goat Tavern, Bootlegger, Gaslamp Tavern, Columbine Roadhouse, and LePlatt’s Pond, and celebrating at Bayfield Heritage Days, Jackalope Acres Pumpkin Festival, Gatorfest, Logger Days, and Passport to Pagosa. Each stop was its own adventure, each crowd its own family — and along the way, we were lucky to work alongside some of the most genuine and generous folks in the San Juans.
Mark and Christine at the Bootlegger, Inga and Lucky at the Columbine Roadhouse, Suzanna and Brad with the Bayfield Farmers Market, Michael at the Neon Mallard, Nikki and Duke with Backcountry Outfitters, Krii and Paul at L-J Ranch, Bryan and Jackie at the Chuck Wagon, Jairo at Rios Taco Shack, and Patrick and SaraBeth at Chef’s Cuisine — each one opened their doors, lifted us up, and reminded us that this isn’t just business, it’s family.
And if there’s anyone we’ve missed, please know it’s never intentional — there are simply too many amazing people to name. Never would we have expected to meet so many incredible, genuine, and authentic souls who make up this community we now call home.
Season Highlights
-
Lighting up Silverton with the burning of Big Al at Gatorfest.
-
Bringing Gulf oysters to the mountains for unforgettable nights at the Neon Mallard.
-
Watching kids dig into our Lil Cajuns Menu for the first time at Jackalope Acres.
-
Singing along with Uncle Lucius under the Colorado night sky — proof that food, music, and community feed the soul.
-
Winning Best Decorated Booth and placing in People’s Choice at Passport to Pagosa.
-
Sharing Maw Maw’s Apple Cake at markets and pop-ups — I know my mother smiled every time one of you bought a slice, and even bigger when you came back for more.
Now it’s time to rest and recharge before heading south for the winter. We’ll be calling Northern Mississippi home for a few months — reconnecting with family, checking in with our vendors, and preparing for what’s expected to be an early 2026 crawfish season. Dennis will be back in his element, selling crawfish, corn, and potatoes by the masses, while we lay the groundwork for another exciting year ahead.
We’ll return to Colorado in the spring — dates to be announced soon — with a refreshed spirit, a full calendar, and plenty of new adventures to share.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this wild, wonderful ride. Every every boil shared and every story swapped from our Purple People Feeder was more than a meal — it was a memory.
π With love and gratitude,
Dennis & Marylou
